The 3 Strand 3D Braid is one that I stumbled upon while watching TV one day. I often fiddle with my hair while sitting on the couch watching TV… and by often, I mean almost always. (My husband teases me and says the only way that he can tell that I’m really into a show or movie is if I am NOT braiding my hair while doing it.) Anyway, I discovered the 3 strand 3D braid the other day and sat there amazed at how I had never tried it or seen it yet! I searched the internet to see if I could find any other tutorials on it and I couldn’t… but it’s just so easy, I couldn’t believe that this one isn’t already out there!
This one makes for cute pigtails, ponytail, half up style or even braided pull backs. It’s simple yet just a bit different, which I love.
Let’s get started on learning how to do the 3 Strand 3D braid!
Step 1. Brush hair out and pull into pigtails, a ponytail, half up ponytail, etc. depending on what style you are going for. If the hair has layers in it or is prone to flyaways, I would recommend spraying it down with some water and braiding it wet/damp.
Step 2. Separate the hair into 3 even sections. Take the right most piece and go under the middle strand and up and over, so it’s going around the middle section, then back to it’s starting position on the right.
Step 3. Take the left most section and go under the middle section and up and back over the middle section so that it goes back to it’s original position on the left.**
*So the right most piece never ends up on the left, and the left most piece never ends up on the right.
Step 4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 until you have braided all the way down and secure with an elastic.
You can add a cute accessory or spray with hair spray if you’d like.
