I used to have a love/hate relationship with curling my hair. This was back in the day, back before I was Hair by Lori. I would curl my hair and a half hour later, you wouldn’t even be able to tell! I tried loading those curls up with hairspray, holding them longer in the curling iron, and I didn’t dream of combing through them with my fingers to soften the look. They fell out though every. single. time.
Shortly after I discovered braiding (only 2 years ago!), I also discovered this awesome thing called a curling wand. I immediately saw a difference! My curls didn’t fall out anymore! I’ve practiced and learned even more since discovering a curling wand and I want to share with you all my tips and tricks for curling hair.
In the video below, I’m teaching you how I curl my hair on an everyday (ok, so it’s not quite everyday… every few times a month 😉 ) basis. I like to have my curls soft and feminine, and looking more like waves than tight ringlets. While I teach you how to do my soft waves, I am also sharing all of my tips, tricks and best advice for my curls and for other curled looks.
I’ve learned that a lot of the soft, pretty braided updo’s that I love so much start with curls like this! And while I hate going through the process of curling my hair just to pin it up, it really does make such a difference and improves the look of any braided style. Sometimes I finish my curls and get interrupted before I get to braid, so I just wear them as is. Whether you wear them down or use it as the start of a braided style, knowing how to curl your hair is a valuable skill to have!
