Multi Strand Pull Through Braids - great tutorials and ideas for wearing 3 and 4 strand pull through braids. Love these! And no braiding skills required!

We are on to day 10 of the 30 Day Braiding Challenge – 30 Days of New Braids.

Today’s challenge is a multi strand pull through braid.  Last year we did a 3 strand pull through braid for this day in the challenge, but since then, a 4 strand pull through braid tutorial as been done.  The 3 strand pull through braid is one of my favorite hairstyles that I’ve tried, and while I haven’t tried the 4 strand pull through yet, it looks even more incredible!

Last year, there were hardly any tutorials to share, but I’m thankful to be able to share a bunch with you today!  I’m also sharing a couple of tutorials that aren’t a pull through braid, but the creators named them as such so I figured what the heck, why not give include them here too!  Additionally, I found a tutorial for a faux pull through braid – it looks like a pull through braid but you don’t need all the little elastics.  While all these may not be true multi strand pull through braids, the real point of this challenge is to try new braids that you haven’t done before – and to have fun while doing it!

Here are some great tutorials and ideas on multi strand pull through braid styles for you!

The Technique

3 Strand Pull Through Braid tutorial by me.  As with the other pull through braids that I shared for Day 5 of the challenge, this is really a faux braid or elastic braid.

Hairstyle hack video on the 3 strand pull through braid – after doing the style on my girls a few times, I found that this trick helped the process to go faster and was easier.

DIY Tutorial

3 Strand Pull Through Braid tutorial by Missy Sue.  I was so excited to see a DIY tutorial done on this style!  I have done this style on myself and it can be a little tricky – and it can tire your arms out!  My best advice is to leave yourself enough time to do it and to stop and look at the back of your head in a mirror after you do each stitch of the braid to pull the edges and make sure it looks equally fluffy.  It’s harder to adjust once you get to the end!  It looks amazing though and you’ll find it is well worth the effort.

Additional Ways To Do The Braid

Chikas Chic did a video on the 3 strand pull through as well (she calls it the 3D pull through braid).  She teaches it a bit differently and shows how you can make all of your ponytails along the head before you start doing the pull through braid.

4 Strand Pull Through Braid tutorial by Jenni’s Hairdays.  This looks spectacular and so very intricate.  I love how she shows it only going down to the base of the neck, too.  It helps you see how it will look if you want to stop there – or if you are trying to do it all the way out but your arms get tired or you run out of time ;-).

3 Strand Pull Through Halo Braid tutorial by me.  I loved this technique so much that I tried it as a halo braid and LOVED it!  I hope you will too!

Multi Strand Pull Through Braid Ponytail tutorial by Princess Hairstyles.  This is so unique and different!

5 Strand Braid – pull through braid effect tutorial by LearnDoTeachHairstyles.  This is a faux pull through braid.  She teaches how to get the pull through braid effect without the use of  all those little elastics!

Intricate Pull Through Braid tutorial by Bebexo.  This one isn’t really a pull through braid in the sense that most people think of it, as this isn’t an elastic style, but I can see why she went for the name.  It’s a pretty look and since the point of the 30 day challenge is to try a new braid every day, I say go for it if you like it!

I really encourage you to try this one out.  You can do it on yourself and it looks great on older girls and women as well as younger girls.  I think you’ll love it, even if it takes you out of your comfort zone!
