Today’s braid is the pull through braid. This style is super easy to do! The pull through braid is actually a faux braid – it’s gives you the look of a braid without any actual braiding required. It is also considered an elastic braid since it is a look that is created by using a bunch of little hair elastics, either clear or colored.
This one is a great one for sports and activities because it stays in great with all those elastics! I am sharing a few different tutorials to show you how this “braid” can be used for both little girls all the way up to adults.
Pull Through Braid tutorial by Cute Girls Hairstyles. In a ponytail like she teaches – it’s easy enough that anyone can do! Love it!
This DIY tutorial by Bebexo teaches you how to do the French version of the pull through braid. It resembles a Dutch braid but is certainly different.
Additional Ways to Use the Technique
Side Pull Through Braid tutorial by Christine Allen on the Mindy Mae channel. She teaches it with adding some hair extensions at the beginning, but you can definitely achieve the same look without the extensions if you don’t have any. I have done this style on little girls and myself – it really is perfect for all ages! I think it is especially a great picture day hairstyle as it frames the face nicely and will hold all day when you sent your little one off to school.
Pull Through Braid Updo tutorial by Annies Forget Me Knots. This style is quick, easy and so very pretty. It’s great on girls and women too.
Reverse Pull Through Braid tutorial by Princess Hairstyles. This is just as fast and easy as the original pull through braid, but puts a little spin on it… plus you can add colored elastics and have them show which is fun!
DIY Pull Through Halo Braid tutorial from Hey Kayli. I love this look so much! This will take some time (and quite a bit of elastics) to do but it’s just so pretty. It’s also going to hold up really well – so if you have ever tried other crown braids and they wouldn’t stay in well then you’ll have to try this on out because it’s going to stay put for you.
There are certainly other ways that you can use the pull through braid technique. Hopefully this helps you to see how it’s done and gives you some ideas to start with though.
