Double Waterfall Twist Braids

Video Tutorial: Double Waterfall Twist Braids

If you have been following my blog, then you probably are familiar with the 30 Day Braiding Challenge that I did.  It was fantastic, I blogged about a different braid every day, sharing multiple tutorials for each day.  My favorite part of the challenge was seeing how everyone chose to do each day of the challenge (if you check out the hashtags on Instagram or look back through my FB feed, you’ll see what I’m talking about!).  I’m always so inspired by seeing the work of others.

Today’s style was inspired by the waterfall twist day of the challenge and style done by Instagram user @ashley_cardon.  Her style is pictured above.  How cute is her little darling!!  When I saw it, I knew it was one that I would love to do on my own girls!  I decided to film a tutorial on it in case there is anyone else out there in love with this sweet look.

You can see above that it looks cute and can be a dressy style when styled with curls.  It also looks adorable with straight hair or even with the hair pulled back in to a ponytail, which I’ll show you in today’s tutorial.

Let’s get started on how to do this double waterfall twist braid headband hairstyle!

Supplies you’ll need: hairbrush, a couple of small elastics, and hairspray (optional)

Time Needed:  10-12 min

Skill Level:  Easy – Medium

Step 1.  Start by brushing the hair out.  Pick up a section of hair from above on ear – split it into two parts.  Give each piece of hair a clockwise twist, then cross one over another counterclockwise.
Step 2.  Holding those two sections open, pick up another section of hair from above that first section and sandwich it between your two pieces that you are holding apart, then take and twist those two sections the same direction that you did in step 1.
Step 3.  Repeat step 2 until your braid has crossed over the top of her head and you have reached the opposite ear, then give the braid a couple of extra twists and secure with an elastic.
Step 4.  Pick up another section of hair from behind the ear that you just ended the first braid at, split that in two and then repeat steps 2 & 3.
Step 5.  You can take and hold the pieces of hair that you waterfalled through and then slide your waterfall twist braids up closer to the face if you’d like.
You’re done!  You can add a bobby pin or two if you need to or finish with hairspray.  The hair that is hanging down can stay straight down, or add curls or put the hair up into a ponytail.
