Lace Braid tutorials - there are so many ways that you can use this super simple and easy braiding technique!

We are on day 13 of our 30 Day Braiding Challenge – 30 Days of New Braids.

Today’s challenge is the lace braid.  This is such an easy braid and a fun one to get creative with!  A lace braid is basically half of a French braid… but really you can do any other braiding technique “lace” – it just means that you are adding in hair to only one side of the braid.  I think that’s why it’s so easy to get creative with this technique, because you could take any of the other braids you have learned thus far in the challenge and make them a lace braid.

I’ll share some great tutorials to give you ideas on what you can do, but if you have other ideas, then go for it!  I can’t wait to see what you create.

The Technique

Lace Braid tutorial by me.  I think that a very easy way to learn the technique and do a fast style is to do a braid-back style like I teach here.

Additional Ways to Use the Technique

French Lace Braid Updo tutorial by Missy Sue.   This gorgeous style would be perfect for a wedding or other formal occasion.  It would even look great as a pretty style to wear to work or just to wear out!

Lace Braid into a Fishbone Braid tutorial by Babes in Hairland.  I think that the lace braid looks amazing going into a fishtail braid like she teaches here, it just flows perfectly and is so cute!

Lace Braid Rose Hairstyle tutorial by Princess Hairstyles.  I love this gorgeous style!  It looks so difficult and complicated, but it’s really not as hard as you would think!

2 Lace Braid Boho Hairstyles tutorial by me.  This is a buildable hairstyle tutorial – you can start with just the one accent braid or you can keep braiding and do the double braided ponytail look.  This is definitely not a style that you will see everyday, but if you like a unique look, give it a try!

3 Ways to do a Lace Braid tutorial by Jenni’s Hairdays. Jenni teaches you how to use the same simple technique to create 3 very different looks!  These are so quick to do, you’ll love them!

Laced Fishtail Tieback tutorial by Cute Girls Hairstyles.  As I said in the beginning of my post, you can take pretty much any braiding technique and do it as a lace braid.  French and fishtail are my two favorites!  And any lace braid would work great on short hair like you see here.
