Milkmaid braids with gorgeous Infinity Headband  Milkmaid braids

I love having an arsenal of quick hairstyles to draw from for those busy days when I just don’t have the time to do anything complicated to my hair.  Life gets busy, and you shouldn’t have to spend an hour every day to have hair that looks fantastic!  These milkmaid braids are SO easy to do, anyone can do them!

For an even more put together look, I like to add a pretty headband from Infinity Headbands to this hairstyle.  Adding a headband gives me instant glam without any effort, I love it!  I wrote about these headbands in my 7 Ways to Wear a Headband post already, but you’ll continue to hear me talk about them here on the blog.  They are so unique and functional, you can add them to a style AFTER you have done it by laying the headband on top of the style and then connecting the adjustable strap.  Because they are adjustable, they will fit any head (and make it easy for me to share them with my girls!).  Their beautiful headbands are also interchangeable – they can be used with the adjustable elastic strap like you see here OR a traditional plastic headband.  (Learn more about that here).  Head on over to Infinity Headbands and be sure to use coupon code “LORI” to save 10%!

How to Do Milkmaid Braids

Tools I used:  hairbrush, clear elastics, bobby pins, this Infinity Headband, and hairspray

Time to complete:  5 minutes

Skill Level:  Easy

Step 1.  Begin by braiding your hair into two low pigtails.  You want them to sit close to behind your ears.

Step 2.  Beginning at the bottom of each braid and working your way up, gently pinch and pull the edges of the braid to make it more full (this is called pancaking the braid).

Step 3.  Lay the headband across your head where you want it to sit.

Step 4.  Secure the headband together and adjust the fit if need be.

Step 5.  Take a finger and put it at the top of your braid to help make sure the style lays nicely, then use the other hand to pull the end of the braid up and over your head so that it sits directly behind the headband.

Step 6.  Use bobby pins to pin the braid in place.

Step 7.  Repeat steps 5 & 6 on the other side of the head, making sure that the elastics that secure each braid are tucked underneath the other braid and hidden.  Finish with hairspray if you’d like and adjust any bobby pins to make sure that the braids are laying nicely and the pins are hidden.

That’s it, you’re done!  This hairstyle is SO easy to do, you don’t need any fancy braiding skills for it.  I think that it works equally well on little girls and women alike.  You can even try different braid techniques for a different and unique look every time.

I’d love to see how it turns out for you if do it and want to share.  You can share it on my Facebook page, tag me in your photo on Instagram @hair_by_lori.  Thanks so much for reading!  I hope you’ll come back soon!
