Video Tutorial: This Star Hairstyle is PERFECT for The 4th Of July!

I love doing holiday hairstyles!  It’s such a fun time to let my creativity shine.  I know that I can get complicated with my holiday styles though, so I wanted to make sure there was a simple one for those of you who want something quick and easy for the 4th of July.  I think this star hairstyle is just that.  It’s simple and adorable.  Plus, it’s adorable on shorter hair too.

Let’s get started!

Supplies you’ll need:  a dozen or so small elastics, hairbrush, cute ribbon or bows.

Time: 10-15 minutes

Skill Level:  Beginner

Step 1.  Take the hair from around her face back to the crown of her head and pull it back into three small sections, secure with elastics.

Step 2.  Part straight down the back of the head and secure the remaining hair into two low pigtails.

Step 3.  Take the hair from your top most ponytail, divide into two equal parts and braid, temporarily securing with elastics.

Step 4.  Take the hair from the top left ponytail, divide into two equal parts and braid, temporarily securing with elastics.

Step 5.  Take the top most braid from the top left ponytail and pull it across to meet your right top ponytail, weaving it over one of the braids from the middle and under the other, then secure it to that ponytail using an elastic.

Step 6.  Remove the elastic that was temporarily holding the braid you just brought into the top right ponytail and braid that ponytail into one braid, temporarily securing with an elastic.

Step 7.  Take the single braid that you just braided from the top right ponytail and bring it over the first braid from the top ponytail and then take the second braid from the top ponytail along with that single braid and join it to your bottom left pigtail with an elastic.

Step 8.  Take the remaining braid from the top left ponytail and bring it under the braid coming from the top ponytail and then join it along with the other remaining braid from the top into the bottom right pigtail.  Secure it there with an elastic.

Step 9.  Add your favorite bow or accessory.  You can add a bobby pin underneath any of the braids if they aren’t laying to your liking.

You’re done!
