Day 14 – Waterfall Braid

Waterfall braid tutorials - waterfall braids are surprisingly easy to do! Here are a TON of variations to it.

We are on to day 14 of the 30 Day Braiding Challenge – 30 Days of New Braids.

Today’s challenge is the waterfall braid.  We have already done the waterfall twist in this challenge, but today I’m showing you the basic waterfall braid and some other variations of the waterfall braid.  I love waterfall braids because they are so fast to do.  I know that they can be tricky for some people to do at first, but stick with it, because I know you’ll love it once you get it!

Variations and Additional Ways to Use the Technique

Side Swept Waterfall Braid tutorial by me.  I love, love, love this hairstyle!  It’s quick and it keeps the hair off the back of your neck, so it’s perfect for summer!

Waterfall Braid Combo tutorial by Cute Girls Hairstyles.  This is a great way to wear a waterfall braid if you need to have your hair up or just want a unique look!

Waterfall French Braid Combo tutorial by me.  While I love the waterfall braid, I do not do it very often on my girls.  I find that, especially if they are going to be playing or active, it falls out pretty easily.  The best way that I’ve found to do a waterfall braid on my daughters and have it last is to anchor the style by combining the waterfall braid with another braid.  This combo tutorial above is just one way that you can use this concept and help ensure that the style lasts through a busy day – especially good for a little one’s baby fine hair!

Scissor Waterfall Braid tutorial by HairAndNailsInspiration.  I LOVE this waterfall braid so much and I find that it’s easier for me to do than a regular waterfall braid.

3D Waterfall Braid & Braided Flower tutorial by me.  I love the way that this braid pops!  You can finish it however you like if you don’t want to go with the flower.

4 Strand Waterfall Braid tutorial by Braidsandstyles12.  This is more difficult than a regular waterfall braid, but gives you a very cool look!

5 Strand Waterfall Braid tutorial by Princess Hairstyles.  This is certainly a more complicated one – but to you advanced braiders out there – I challenge you to give it a try sometime!

4 Strand Upward Waterfall Braid tutorial by me.  This is a different and unique looking waterfall braid.  I think it’s actually pretty easy to do!
