Welcome - Meet Lori

Meet Lori

Hi, I’m Lori!  I love God, my family, life and hair.  I have a passion for all of those things and am forever the optimist.

I’m a mother of 4 wonderful children.  They are ages 1, 2, 7 and 8.  We are in our third year of homeschooling and we absolutely love it.  It gives me the chance to witness all of my children’s “aha!” moments, customize their education to their interests and needs, and spend a lot of time with them.  It has been a huge blessing to our lives and we hope to continue for as long as we feel that we can give them the best education possible.

In my spare time I love to read – fantasy/sci-fi/mystery/crime are my favorite types of books to read for pleasure.  I also love to cook – which is a good thing when I have 5 other people to cook for.  (Though they may not always enjoy my culinary adventures as much as I do!)  I enjoy playing video games and board games with my family as well.

I began doing hair when I was in high school.  My best friend’s mother took us to get our hair done for our freshman homecoming dance.  I fell in love with up dos and since I didn’t come from money, I determined to learn how to do it myself!  I did my own hair and many friends’ hair for every dance after that.

I’ve been doing hair ever since then.  I am self-taught, and very thankful that I have the ability to pick up how to do most styles just by looking at them.  I’ve done hair for weddings, birthday parties, dances, and even taught a class at our homeschool co-op on braids and up-dos.  It’s something that I could do all day long!  I’m beyond intrigued with the endless possibilities for styles.  It’s my creative outlet.  It’s my art.  It’s my passion.

I’ve had friends tell me “I love how you do your girls’ hair.  I can’t do anything but a simple braid on mine!”.  I always tell them that if they can do a simple braid, I can teach them to do more.   I think that any mom (or dad, grandma, babysitter, caregiver – anyone!) can learn how to do hair if they are interested in it.  I want to help you learn different styles and techniques.  I want to give you ideas and inspire you to create your own.  I want to share my passion.  I want to check out different products and let you know my honest opinion of them.  That’s what I’ll be sharing on this blog

Thanks for taking the time to meet me and learn more about my site.  I hope that you’ll come back soon!
